Ayurvedic surgical interventions practiced at RPAC are done with ksarsutra or through agnikarma – cauterization. Ksarsutras are medicated gauges that are treated with multiple layers of medicines and are used to cut the external growths. Under the effect of local anaesthesia, ksarsutras are used to cut the external growth and are effectively used in the treatment of :
- Piles – hemmorhoids – inflamed swollen veins in the rectum region usually caused by restraining bowel movements or chronic constipation
- Fistulas – anal fistula is an infected tunnel between the skin and anus – this is usually a result of some kind of infection in the anal region that spreads to the skin
- Fissures
- Sentinel piles
- Pilonidal sinus
- Rectal or anal polyps

- Ksarsutra ano rectal surgeries are very safe, cost effective, non-invasive , para – surgical procedures
- In cases of fistula and fissures, any grade of the condition can be treated with this method with least chance of recurrence.
- As opposed to allopathic surgical interventions to the above stated issues, where there is an open wound, the surgical interventions by ksarsutras, leave no wounds and a person can easily get back to normal routine after this simple opd procedure.
- In cases of fistula, the thread changing has to be done every week for 3-6 weeks, depending upon the fistula being treated.
- Secondary possible complications/ side effects like incontinence, stenosis and stricture of such surgeries is completely avoided with the ksarsutra surgical intervention.
- Since only local anaesthesia is used for such surgeries, in case of piles, only 2-3 masses can be treated in one sitting.
Cauterization is the part of Agnikarma procedures and is done in alliance with ksarsutra technique, as and when needed. In fissure complication, sentinel tag excision, to arrest bleeding in case of cutting the fistula tract, for a healing wound in end fistula, corn and wart excision, minute lymphomas etc cauterization is applied.
Each of the surgical interventions is followed by a prescription of internal medicines, that help in faster healing.
